My story
As much as I am prepared to support my preconception clients due to my training and expertise, I also bring my lived experience to the table. As a queer person who conceived with the help of a donor, I personally know the ins and outs of what this process can look like: from the intention that goes into family building, to the many, many micro (and not so micro) decisions along to way, to the exhausting bureaucracy, and more. I’ve navigated both the low intervention side of TTC as a queer person and the fertility clinic side of things.
When you work together you get to decide how much of my personal experience I bring to the table. It can be beneficial for some to hear from a peer who has been through something similar, and, we can also focus all on you! Whatever you need, know that my support is always grounded in meeting you where you are at, evidence based education and research, and most importantly, your own emotional experience.
Your Questions, Answered
-
Yes! My support is available for all people on their TTC journey. I specialize in supporting queer and trans folks, but many of the same principles and potential hurdles can apply if you are planning to have a baby on your own.
-
I know how overwhelming it can be to make all the decisions that go into intentionally planning a pregnancy. This is a great way to use the preconception meeting! We can talk about what options exist, and start making you a plan if that feels good. Anything from whether you even want to be pregnant to what clinic to work with to when you should start prenatal vitamins is on the table for this conversation.
-
If your journey to your baby is taking longer than anticipated, I am sorry, and I am hear to hold you in that. Sometimes you may feel like you need additional emotional support at a certain point, or perhaps you are on the precipice or making some new decisions and want support with that.
-
Long answer made short — it depends! I typically provide my fertility and conception support virtually, but if you happen to be local to me and want in-person support, reach out and we can discuss.
-
I can keep working with you, if you’d like! If you become pregnnacy during a month that we’ve already agreed to work together you would continue to have access to me in the same manner, but for early pregnancy support instead. After that, it would be up to you if you wanted to continue working together through your pregnancy, or not. If you experience pregnancy loss I will also be able to support you through this.
